Spirit / Holy Ghost — All Bible Verses Examined.

Vital Health Science Breakthrough of Our Life Time!

The following are comments made after each verse containing the word Spirit or Holy Ghost. The term Holy Ghost is only used in the New Testament. Out of twenty three versions of the bible that I examined, only three used the term Holy Ghost.

Malachi 2:10

Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?

First, the reference of one father (Yahweh) and secondly one creator God (Elohim, Yahweh’s family) is tied to our being. The one father could be Adam, while one God (Elohim) could be Yahushua (Jesus). No matter which entity brings about the will of Yahweh the Almighty Heavenly Father, it should be understood that the source of all power and light of understanding always comes from Yahweh. We might also understand that the one Father (Yahweh) and God (Elohim) to be Yahweh our almighty heavenly Father full of glory is the source of all the power sustaining our world. Life is the light of man. Man is a fleshy vehicle by which his immortal spirit learns the lessons appointed by Yahweh to be necessary for each of us. Necessary to be learned for the good of the Universe. Yahushua (Jesus) brought into being the life of each of us, man.

Matthew 23:9 (Which sheds clarifying light.)

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Hebrews 12:9

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

How are we to understand these expressions? Yahweh (the LORD) is your Father, who is found in heaven. More commonly than not, we each know who the male parent of our flesh is. An off-spring never has more than one male participant contributing to his physical composition. Hebrews12:9 strongly supports the conviction that the spiritual component of mankind’s mortal nature has been fathered by none other than Yahweh (the LORD) our Heavenly Father. Keep this in mind as you go through the verses below. I am aware that the term father can be applied in the place of originator, creator, founder or author. Pointing out this connection between Yahweh and man is shocking to some and even heretical to others. May Yahweh open your mind. HalleluYah!

John 17:3

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God (Elohim – Yahweh and the members of his family), and Jesus Christ (Yahushua the Messiah), whom thou hast sent.

So we should understand that it is possible and indeed necessary for each of us to come to a knowledge of Yahweh the Almighty Heavenly Father and his only mortal off-spring, Yahushua (Jesus), the messiah who was the personage that led the Israelites out of land of Egypt. The mystery of Yahweh’s plan for mankind’s salvation seems to be recorded in the history of the Israelites. I hope to explore this subject at another time for my own edification.

.

Genesis 1:2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God (Elohim, Yahweh’s family) moved upon the face of the waters.

I interpret this to say that there is the planet Earth which is covered with water. No land has yet surfaced from under the water which is global. Darkness abounds all around the planet. No sun, no moon, no stars, no light from any source. Human science is hard pressed to accept such a claim or imagine such a beginning.

Genesis 6:3
And the LORD (Yahweh) said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

Yahweh says that man is also flesh, accepting or referring to man having a spirit like unto himself, Yahweh the Almighty Father. Yahweh’s spirit can strive with man which means that he is able to seek to influence, not compel men. It is suggested that the flesh has a large or strong influence over mankind. We surely know this to be true. Herein, lays the fertile ground for developing or experiencing trials which teach. The Sons of Yahweh must demonstrate unto themselves their willingness to be obedient in all things.

Genesis 41:8
And it came to pass in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.

There are religious teachers who demand you accept the definition of the word spirit to be simply, “ breath”. I challenge anyone or everyone to replace spirit with breath throughout the bible, should you like to see how silly that claim really is. The word, “spirit” per my understanding can be an allegory. I do believe in spiritual bodies which are a subject in and of its self. I want to do a writing about this at a later time. Suffice to say, we have the potential to be like Yahushua, who is like Yahweh. This statement is a biblical teaching. Therefore we will retain our spiritual component, can anyone seriously argue that Pharaoh’s trouble spirit was simple some difficulty with his breath. No, our spirit is our source of understanding or comprehension of the true reality which is beyond the distracted consciousness of the fleshy self. We should train ourselves to listen and trust our spiritual selves. If we allow the Spirit of Yahweh influence our choices, how much happier we would be. Our destination or potential is to be a joint heir with Yahushua (Jesus) in the Kingdom of Yahweh. We look forward to serving according to the will of Yahweh the Father and Yahushua the messiah. It’s discouraging sometime when I am made aware of my own pettiness and failed priorities. HalleluYah for his tender lovingkindness.

Genesis 41:38
And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

Pharaoh had an understanding or acceptance of an individual being able to have in residence the Spirit of God (Elohim}within themselves. The ancients in this way enjoyed greater understanding than many who live in this age of scientific advances. Many deny even the existence of the spirit component of man’s composite makeup. What a sad state of affairs this is!

Genesis 45:27
And they told him all the words of Joseph, which he had said unto them: and when he saw the wagons which Joseph had sent to carry him, the spirit of Jacob their father revived:

Was his breath revived? Of course not, but that unique component of each of Yahweh’s children, the spirit. The spirit has never been breath and cannot rightly be described as such. I am pleased that there are a good number of us who fail to embrace deceptive heresy. Remember it is very important to understand our natures and the nature of Yahweh to the degree possible while in these clay vehicles or tabernacles of flesh and bones. We must be patient and confident that Yahweh will enlighten us as we become sufficiently humble and able to receive great truth.

Exodus 6:9
And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.

The spirit can be troubled, have anguish and perceive cruel bondage. Wow, so the spirit is self aware. The spirit seems to play a major role in makeup of human nature. What returns to Yahweh (God) who gave it to the mortal nature of all men? The spirit! Exactly, because it only returns to the presences of Yahweh (God). That does not in any way mean that we go to heaven to reside at the hour of our death. It does not mean our spirit will not be present on earth at the second coming of the messiah. An explanation of these mysteries will be sought after at another time.

Exodus 28:3
And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

No matter which authorized entity or entities are in the service of Yahweh our Holy Father, it is as if he, our Heavenly Father accomplished the very deed. Our Heavenly Father uses many entities to accomplish his purposes. The bible identifies Yahushua the messiah as the major personage in regards to directing, commanding, counseling or intervening in the affairs of not only Israel but all mankind. In the case of Yahushua, Yahweh’s name was place within him. Yahweh and Yahushua are separate entities but share a oneness of purpose. A unity that leads the world to believe they are apart of a trinity which is admittedly incomprehensible. I resist the temptation to discuss this subject until another time. My hope or goal is to clarify what a spirit is, as it pertains to man’s being . More precisely, demonstrate that the bible leaves little question as to the importance, value and common nature of the spirit of man and its link to eternity.

Exodus 31:3
And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

In the New Testament of the bible we may be referring to what is termed the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. It appears to me that this spirit of Yahweh is a quantity of Yahweh’s personal influence. There is a worthiness associate with the distribution of Yahweh’s (God’s} spirit. Without his Spirit of influence there would not be any progress or light of understanding among men.

Exodus 35:21
And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.

Here the spirit is being mentioned as an integrated part of an individuals whole. How their willingness of spirit brought about action. Does breath enjoy consciousness or any degree of willingness? Please, give me a break! How I hate the doctrine of the sleeping soul.

Exodus 35:31
And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship;

The last four verses illustrate to me that Yahweh(God) influences men, which motivates, touches their minds and emotions in such away as to causes the positive and desired results, which serve Yahweh’s purposes. Yahweh draws us to him or allows us to flounder in deprived conditions. Does this not shout out loudly about some cause for these happenings. Remember, Yahweh (God) is declared to be fair, righteous and above unjustness. Preexistence, prejudgment of choices, made in our past before this earthly estate began. This reasoning alone, to date, satisfies my observance of the affairs of men. Not fully, but a better start than most who accept there blessed estate or circumstance, as they perceive it, above their fellows without question or concern. Truth seekers hunger with an appetite that is not easily satisfied. Such an appetite certainly should stave off boredom that too many complain of having.

Leviticus 20:27
A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

Having a familiar breath, bad breath, shall be put to death. No, or course not! More than one spirit can occupy the human body. Satan and his angels are non-in-bodied spirits. Remember the legion of demons that were removed from one individual and put in a herd of swine. Yahweh places a stiff penalty on a person who allows evil spirits to take up residence in our bodies. Our bodies are to be a temple where Yahweh and Yahushua can visit and reside in a way that is not understood. I don’t imagine a spirit entity can be in more than one place at a time. The spirit, evil or righteous have powers not understood but are made manifest at the pleasure of Yahweh. Remember, the body without the spirit is dead. I can testify to the fact that the spirit can experience what seems to be external experiences as if it were separated from the body. It is unclear how this can take place. Yahweh and Yahushua are able to reside with unlimited host of individuals. We would be pleased to understand fully but let us rejoice in whatever Yahweh is pleased to share. Surely we will have much more understanding after having journing through the temptations of this sphere of existence. All mankind has been purchased with the blood of Yahushua the messiah. HalleluYah!

Numbers 5:14
And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:

Here we speak of a spirit in the terms of a emotion which is but a component of a sentient being.

An abstract reference pertaining to feeling and not the spiritual component but about it’s behavior.

Numbers 5:30
Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.

Same as above.

Numbers 11:17
And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

Here we have a quantity of influence that was placed upon Moses by Yahweh. This puts me in mind of the sun and it’s warming rays. The rays touch many at the same time. The Holy Spirit selectively does the same thing. Is this quanty of Yahweh’s influence an operational power of the personal being of Yahweh? Is it possible, that when Yahweh touches you with this influence, you become accountable with less defence for wrong choices.

Numbers 11:25
And the LORD came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.

Once again, the spiritual influence was shared. Many suggest that the spirit or Holy Spirit is a separate member or entity of the Godhead. This is not clear to me but we see that Yahweh or his son Yahushua with his name in him is able to share the spirit that was present with Moses. This spirit or power can be divided and shared. I find this interesting but am unable to draw a conclusion about this as of yet. But, I am leaning toward the intimate influence and intervention of the Holy Father, Yahweh. Is this perhaps why there is such serioness affence associated with denying the Holy Ghost. Some say that it is difficult to deny the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit. Perhaps it is, then wouldn’t it mean that receiving the influence or power from Yahweh is equally difficult?

Numbers 11:26
But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.

Here again, spirit seems to be a quantity of a powerful influence. This influence appears to link those who have it rest upon them to be in harmony with Yahweh’s will. This spirit can come and go in an individuals life. I am particularly thinking of the first king of Israel, King Saul.

Numbers 11:29
And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD’S people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

Here we have Moses saying that he would be pleased if all Yahweh’s people should have Yahweh’s

Spirit placed upon them. In each case of the Spirit ( Yahweh’s influence) being place upon someone, the Spirit is pointing to have come from him, not some other individual or entity.

Numbers 14:24
But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it.

The spirit of obedience, instead of the spirit of lawlessness. Failing to love Yahweh appropriately is a continued afflection among the children of men.

Numbers 24:2
And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

Yahweh chooses to share the light of his influence (spirit) so Balaam would understanding.. This Prophet did not always have the spirit or it would not have been necessary to come upon him. We may not always have Yahweh’s spirit as well. Worthiness and Yahweh’s purpose are elements that come into play.

Numbers 27:18
And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

Here Yahweh {actually Yahushua} says to appoint Joshua because he has the spirit which is Yahweh the Eternal Heavenly Father’s personal influence. Let me mention here that I have reason to understand that the name given to Moses’ general was the name that the Messiah was

to be known by as he walk among men. Names are important and unfortunately have been changed for no good purpose by the influence of the adversary. Considerable effort is now required to re-establish the correct names. I am encouraged in believing that this will take place and is taking place even now. It is written that anyone who calls upon the name of Yahweh, will be saved. Remember, Yahweh wants you to call upon him and share his name and his works among men.

Exodus 35:21
And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD’s offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.

Deuteronomy 2:30
But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.

How did Yahweh our Elohim cause the spirit of King Sihon to harden? Yahweh would not control someone like a puppet. He would not force or violate his agency. Influencing the right combination of circumstances that would cause the heart hardening would be one way. Recall the way in which Yahweh brought about having Joseph placed in Egypt. So as, to be able to benefit Jacob his father and his family. I have witnessed Yahweh’s marvelous influence in lives of today. Yahweh has not changed. Yahweh knows your name and mine, even all of mankind. Yahweh sinfluences things far in advance of one’s needs and it appears at just the right moment. One can only marvel at how busy he is, even with the much help he employs.

Deuteronomy 34:9
And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses.

Moses influenced the resting of the spirit by the laying on of hands and prayer. Yahweh heard and complied for the benefit of Israel and his divine purposes. Nothing in my opinion takes place on this orb without divine consent, and fulfilling Yahweh’s purposes.

Joshua 5:1
And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

Here again the spirit spoken of has to do with feeling or emotion of the people mentioned. They were in a state of fear, hopelessness, dread because they had heard of the supernatural occurrences that was following the children of Israel because of the power of their Elohim (God).

Who can stand before such a mighty Elohim (God)?

Judges 3:10
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war: and the LORD delivered Chushanrishathaim king of Mesopotamia into his hand; and his hand prevailed against Chushanrishathaim.

We learned earlier that when men walked with Yahweh’s spirit and continued in such a walk, they were know as the sons of God(Yahweh). Who can succeed against the sons of Yahweh? Are not all things possible for Yahweh’s obedient ones?

Judges 6:34
But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abiezer was gathered after him.

Judges 9:23
Then God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech:

We are talking about emotions or feelings. Yahweh is intimately involve with his children. It is said that Elohim is a participant in the affairs of men.

Judges 11:29
Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon.

The Spirit of Yahweh is an advantage and benefactor for those who receive it. Of course, Yahweh brings about purposes while spreading his spirit according to his pleasure. He is able influence without being a respector of persons or impair one’s agency. HalleluYah!

Judges 13:25
And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.

The Spirit of Yahweh move Samson at times. I haven’t yet discovered a separate entity referred to as the Spirit of Yahweh (God). I am thinking that such an additional personage should be mentioned also in the Tanakh (Old Testament). No mention of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit so far among the Tankh scriptures. I am wanting to see a common thread of truth running from the old to the new in regards to the spirit of Yahweh and the way it operates among men.

Judges 14:6
And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.

Yahweh’s influence was a source of great strength. Samson overcame a young lion with his bare hands.

Judges 14:19
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.

I ash myself, did Samson understand that the Spirit of Yahweh was operating upon his person?

Judges 15:14
And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

It is obvious that the Spirit of Yahweh was not continually present with Samson. Samson was favored by Yahweh from time to time.

Judges 15:19
But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.

This indicates to me that the spirit of a person is affected by the natural strength of the body, the mortal flesh. When the body is weak, the spirit likewise is weak. Destroy the body, the spirit leaves its host.

1 Samuel 1:15
And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the LORD.

1 Samuel 10:6
And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

Here we are told that the when the spirit of Yahweh is upon or with someone, that person becomes a different person in so far as they behave differently. A change may take place but does not necessarily make a permanent change.

1 Samuel 10:10
And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God (Elohim) came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

Such is the operation of the Holy Spirit of Elohim. In the Old Testiment we find that the Spirit of God (Elohim) is mentioned instead of the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. It is obvious to me that these expressions refer to the same intervening and personality altering influencing power immanating from Elohim.

1 Samuel 11:6
And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.

The expression,”came upon” says to me that the Spirit of God was an intermittent influence for some. Knowing the story of Saul and David, we sadly acknowledge the ability to fall, even after having received the Holy Spirit or Spritit of God (Elohim). We are also pleased to realize that David received the forgiveness of Yahweh. When Yahweh forgives, he forgets but men more commonly never forget. HalleluYah!

1 Samuel 16:13
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

The verse said that the Spirit of Yahweh came upon David FROM THAT DAY FORWARD.I don’t believe we are justified is saying that David had the Spirit of Yahweh continously but enjoyed the influencing frequently during his life.

1 Samuel 16:14
But the Spirit of the LORD (Yahweh) departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD (Yahweh) troubled him.

This verse shows us that a man can lose the prescious guideance of the Spirit of Yahweh. Also, let us notice that Yahweh is given acknowledgment in regards to being in total control, even those things referred to as evil. Satan cannot do anything without Yahweh’s permission. Yes, not anything at all.

1 Samuel 16:15
And Saul’s servants said unto him, Behold now, an evil spirit from God troubleth thee.

An evil spirit is an expression for a state of unhappiness. This is a state that people get into when they are doing things outside of Yahweh’s commandments. Yahweh gives to us according to our thoughts and deeds. We are not able to discern by our powers of observation Yahweh’s justice. As an example, recall the story of Job. Being victorous over trials of body and mind leads to greater joy in the after life. Imagine the crippling, painfully diseased body and an emotionally tormented existanced without perceived love. Then, restored to a incorruptable, perfect state of being with loving beings all around you. Yahweh seeks to bring about the immortality of all mankind and eternal life of many. HalleluYah!

1 Samuel 16:16
Let our lord now command thy servants, which are before thee, to seek out a man, who is a cunning player on an harp: and it shall come to pass, when the evil spirit from God is upon thee, that he shall play with his hand, and thou shalt be well.

This verse could be describing a troubled conscience or indeed, a evil spirit which is an assistant of Satan. All things are calculated for man’s benefit and also the universe as a whole.

1 Samuel 16:23
And it came to pass, when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, that David took an harp, and played with his hand: so Saul was refreshed, and was well, and the evil spirit departed from him.

Yahweh is given credit for all things, the problem and the solution. Let us never try to reason in such a way about Yahweh’s doings that we should become angry at Yahweh. People some times are so tormented about disappointments and looses in this mortal sphere of existance that they rebell and shake their fists toward the heavens. Repent, always love and praise Yahweh. We are suppose to be happy for all those who have moved from this mortal sphere of existance to the next plane. This existance is for correction. Let us be respectful sons and daughters of the most high Elohim, Yahweh our Heavenly Father. HalleluYah!

1 Samuel 18:10
And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.

If this is a physical condition that Saul is suffering from and not a demon, it is all the same because it is sent of Yahweh. Yahweh cannot be accused of committing evil against man without cause.

I have heard military men discuss the subject of,”the end justifies the means.” I found myself alarmed by such arguments. To think that someone would commit evil acts in order to accomplish an end goal that was good, simple failed to be appropriate in my mind. I am convinced tha Yahweh does not even operate in this manner. Do you have some thoughts you would like to share on this issue?

1 Samuel 19:9
And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.

We are confident that the evil spirit from Yahweh does not bear good fruit for the person who has the evil spirit, save it be to cause or bring about repentance. The evil spirit from Yahweh is punishment and who wants such a thing.

1 Samuel 19:20
And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as appointed over them, the Spirit of God was upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.

When I read of this kind of manifestation, I marvel and desire that we should enjoy such happenings in our present time.
1 Samuel 19:23
And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

This verse tells us about the revisiting of the Spirit of Elohim to King Saul. As you know, Saul had been troubled often by an evil spirit from Yahweh. Isn’t interesting how Yahweh continually strives to help each of us with the patience of his inormace love for us.

1 Samuel 28:7
Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

Sorcerers or necormancers, who professed to call up the dead to answer questions, were said to have a “familiar spirit” (Deut. 18:11; 2 Kings 21:6; 2 Chr. 33:6; Lev. 19:31; 20:6; Isa. 8:19; 29:4).

Such a person was called by the Hebrews an ‘ob, which properly means a bottle; for sorcerers were regarded as vessels containing the inspiring demon. This Hebrew word was equivalent to the pytho of the Greeks, and was used to denote both the person and the spirit which possessed him (Lev. 20:27; 1 Sam. 28:8; compare Acts 16:16).

The word “familiar” is from the Latin familiaris, meaning a “household servant,” and was intended to express the idea that sorcerers had spirits as their servants ready to obey their commands.

1 Samuel 28:8
And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

Normally the dead do not communicate with the living. Usually, demons pretend to be the dead.Yahweh can of course make exceptions.

1 Samuel 30:12
And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs, and two clusters of raisins: and when he had eaten, his spirit came again to him: for he had eaten no bread, nor drunk any water, three days and three nights.

Not unlike what is expressed in 23rdPsalems, “he restoreth my soul.” Our soul or spirit is considered the primary part of our composite makeup or being.

2 Samuel 23:2
The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

David had a clear understanding of the operation of the Spirit of Yahweh. HalleluYah!

I have more to add in order to complete the effort.
